I am buying an existing restaurant in Jackson County. I don't plan to make any changes to the restaurant or menu. Where do I start?
Start by making application for a new permit to the Environmental Health Section at least 30 days prior to the closing date of the existing restaurant if the restaurant is changing ownership (refer to the first page of the Plan Review Application). What requires a plan review?
A Health Department plan review shall be performed and approval granted prior to the construction and operation of any new or remodeled establishment that North Carolina General Statutes mandate. Examples of these include, but are not limited to the following: food service facility, hospital, nursing home, adult care facility, local confinement facility, lodging facility, child day cares, public swimming pools, etc.
Where can I find restaurant inspection scores?
Restaurant inspection scores are tracked through the internet here. Input the name of the restaurant you want to learn more about and select "Start Search."
