Board of Health

On January 29, 2018, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners voted to consolidate the Department of Public Health and the Department of Social Services.  While this will not affect the way we serve our community, it will affect our governing bodies (Board of Health and Social Services Board, respectively).  During this time of transition from two separate agencies to a Consolidated Health and Human Services Agency, please be patient.  We will update this section of our website with information on our Consolidated Board as soon as we have more direction from our new Director.  Thank you!

The Board of Health is the primary policy-making and adjudicatory body for the Jackson County Department of Public Health.  This Board is charged to protect and promote the public health of Jackson County.  The Board is mandated by law and is composed of professionals representing specified health related fields in addition to at-large members who attend regularly scheduled meetings.  All meetings are open to the public.  All community members are encouraged to attend and speak during the public comment period.
