BCCCP/WISEWOMAN

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) provides no- or low-cost breast and cervical cancer screenings and follow-up to eligible women.  To qualify for the program, women must:

  • Be 40 years or older for breast screening services and 21 years and older for cervical screening services

  • Meet the financial guidelines

  • Be uninsured, underinsured, or have high insurance deductibles

The Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation (WISEWOMAN) Project provides cardiovascular disease screening, intervention, counseling, and referral services to BCCCP enrolled woman.  The mission of WISEWOMAN is to provide women with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to improve their diet, physical activity, and other life habits to prevent, delay, or control cardiovascular and other chronic disease such as prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.

JCDPH is partnering with Sylva Family Practice and Invision Diagnostics to host mobile mammogram events in our parking lot!

How to Schedule your Appointment at Jackson County & Sylva Family:

  • Enter the Zip Code (28779) or Event Name (Jackson County & Sylva Family) 

  • Click on your event/schedule

  • Select a time

  • Click on Get Appointment

  • From there you will enter all necessary information needed to schedule a mammogram appointment

Other important information for mammogram events:

  •  If you are a female, over 35 years old and have not had a mammogram in the past year, you are eligible for a mammogram! (Ages 35-39 are eligible for 1 scan within those years, 40 and over eligible annually) Please take note that some insurances will not cover under 40 for typical screenings. If you are under 40, please make sure to call your insurance company in advance to be sure they will cover your screening.

  •  The mammogram bus is not handicap accessible.

  •  Invision will process everything through your insurance company, so there is no cost to you. There is also a self-pay option for those that are uninsured or you may qualify for BCCCP!

  •  All images are compared to previous year's images and read by a Breast Fellowship Board Certified Radiologist. They are then sent to your care provider. You must have an already established primary care provider to be able to schedule an appointment.

  •  Please bring your insurance card and driver's license/photo ID with you to your appointment.
