Good Samaritan Clinic

Logo

The Good Samaritan Clinic (GSC) of Jackson County is an adult, primary care, free clinic located in Sylva, North Carolina. It is volunteer-based, serving:

  • persons-in-need between the ages of 18 and 65,
  • who do not receive Medicaid, are uninsured,
  • with income below 175% of poverty level,
  • who do not have access to health care.

.

Appointments are required for the weekly “provider clinic.”

“Nurse Clinic” is open Mon-Thurs, 9a – 4p at GSC office (suite #227)

.

It is available to those living in Jackson and counties west. As a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization, GSC is governed by a volunteer board of directors, composed of citizens from communities in Jackson County.

.

Financially, the GSC operates with the support of donations, grants, and in-kind services.

Therefore, services are limited by the available resources.

.

As a primary care clinic, we offer patient evaluation, diagnostic testing, diagnosis, prescriptions, referral to specialists/therapists/rehabilitation, access/coordination of care for health promotion/disease prevention services, and case management to promote maximum access to other health and social services in area. With the limited number of primary care providers in WNC, appointments are available one evening clinic each week with volunteer physicians and nurse practitioners. However, the GSC office is open four days a week as a nurse clinic, for follow-up questions/care, referrals, medicine refills, patient education, and applications.

.

You should be commended on the good work you do! I wish we had something like this in San Diego. Thank you so much for your community service, it should not go unnoticed.
