Kindergarten Clinic
The Kindergarten Clinic is available to kindergarten students for a nominal fee. Physicals are performed by Family Nurse Practitioners. The appointment includes an abbreviated history, complete physical, developmental test and vision and hearing screening, immunizations and referrals if necessary. The lab work includes urinalysis, hemoglobin and lead test.
Immunization Clinic
Jackson County Department of Public Health offers immunizations for mumps, measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, haemophilus, hepatitis A and B, polio, flu, pneumonia, varicella (chicken pox), adult varicella (chicken pox), zoster (shingles) and some immunizations for foreign travel. TB skin tests are also offered. There is no charge for children’s immunizations and a nominal fee for some adult vaccines.
Well Children Screening Clinic
Well Children Screening Clinic physicals are performed by a Family Nurse Practitioners and appointments are required. The visit includes a history, developmental tests, vision and hearing screening, complete physical exam, immunizations and referrals if necessary. The lab work includes a urinalysis, hemoglobin, and lead test for children up to age 6.
Sports Clinic
Sports Clinic is available to school age children for a nominal charge. Parental permission is required for all clients. The appointment includes a history, physical exam by a physician or nurse practitioner, height, weight and vision and hearing screening.
Pediatric Heart Clinic (Specialty Heart Clinic)
The Specialty Heart Clinic is held once every other month and appointments are required. The appointment includes an exam by a Pediatric Cardiologist and lab work (i.e., hemoglobin, chest X-ray, and urinalysis) if needed. Other testing is available as ordered by a physician.
Referral for Specialty Heart Clinic must come from the patient’s medical provider (i.e., MD, PA, NP). The patient must be a resident of the seven western counties (Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Swain, Clay, Graham, and Cherokee). Ages for clinic are 0 to 18 years. Fees are based on a sliding fee scale. Medicaid and insurance are accepted.
