Food, Lodging, and Institutional Sanitation
The goal of this program is to ensure that establishments operating in Jackson County meet the minimum sanitation standards as required by the Department of Health and Human Services.
This program consists of frequent inspections of the following establishments:
- Food: Cafes, restaurants, food and drink stands, meat markets
- Lodging: Motels, hotels, summer camps
- Institution: Schools, hospitals, nursing homes, rest homes, day care centers, jails, educational instructions
- Other: Swimming pools, spas, tattoo parlors
Each of these facilities are governed by laws and rules established by the Commission for Health Services. To aid establishments in obtaining and maintaining quality sanitary standard, the Environmental Health Section conducts ongoing education in sanitary practices, operation, personal hygiene, good quality, and personnel management.
